Burn writes When the concept of building a community website for the Surrey County Pool Association and its players was first in the planning stages, it was generally agreed that the site should first and foremost be a place to find News and information useful to anyone wishing to play competitive Pool within the Surrey area.
Forums were included on the websites wishlist, but it was never intended that the forums become more important than the regular reporting of News related to the Pool being played in our affiliated leagues in Croydon, Dorking, Godalming, Guildford, Reigate, Sutton or Tolworth, at Interleague, County, and for a fortunate few, even at International level.
Over the last year or so, the sites Forums have increased in popularity, and have since become one of the sites main attractions.
To redress this balance slightly, and ensure that important News and information does not get lost or forgotten, the SCPA Committee recently decided that a slight website reshuffle was required.
Today, as you see before you (unless you are already registered and logged in), the Forums are no longer right in the middle of the sites Home page, they have instead been replaced with a listing of News articles that highlight current and recent stories related to our various leagues, teams and newsworthy individuals.
Don't worry though, the Forums are still there, and remain exactly as they were before the changes, subject to you being a registered and logged in site user of course.
We now have what we hope you will recognise as a workable compromise:- for the casual website visitor who is not yet part of our Pool playing community, they get to see News and easily accessible information that might help them to become a part of that community.
For those already actively playing Pool in Surrey, the Forums are there, as always, so players can chat about results, fixtures, or any other topics of interest - the changes just mean that you now have to be both registered, and logged in, in order to see them.
The SCPA hope you will continue to enjoy our website, and that these changes will make the potential benefits of playing Pool in a friendly and well organised County, readily available to an even wider audience.
