London vs Surrey 'Ladies' Team Report

The first game of the season was played against London at JFK’s in Peckham.
Surrey started off well gaining a 6-2 lead in the first session but with some mistakes from Surrey in the next few games we only managed a 6-5 lead at the end of the first session.
The second session was a long battle but Surrey managed to gain a 12-10 lead going into the third session.
We lost the third session 6-5 and London were slowly catching us up, however, we were still in the lead 17-16.
The last session was a tough one, with London taking a 22-20 lead. Lauren Strivens and Debbie Barthrop were the last 2 players on for Surrey and they both needed to win their matches to enable Surrey to get a draw. At one point both matches looked in London’s favour but both Lauren and Debbie kept fighting and eventually won their frames.
No lady managed 4 wins on the day, however, Debbie, Steph, Claire and Sarah all got 3 each. Player of the match was awarded to Debbie for a fantastic performance and it was great to have her back in the squad.
