Region Associations and County Associations are responsible for organising Inter-County pool matches on behalf of the English Pool Association.
There are seven participating Regions throughout England
Surrey play in Region 7 along with Berkshire, Hampshire, Kent, London and Sussex.
County matches are played once a month, usually on the second Sunday. There are usually ten matches, five home, five away.
The season runs from February through to November.
Surrey has six teams, Mens ‘A’, Mens ‘B’, Mixed ‘C’, Ladies, Juniors & Seniors. Each team has 11 players, each player plays four frames, each one against a different opponent.
A County match starts at 1.30pm and finishes approximately at 6.30pm.
County players receive an official invitation via the website forums from the Team Manager to attend a match. The players are expected to respond either within the thread on the website, by phone, text or email by the deadline, stating whether or not they can attend.
Players make their own way to the county matches, it is usual for players to share lifts.
A player of the match trophy is awarded to one player in each Surrey team, usually a player who has won all four frames but not always.
At the end of the season the top teams from each Region are invited to attend the National Inter-County Finals & the top 8 players from each region have the opportunity to attend trials for the England teams.
Players are expected to pay £12.50 towards the cost of a team shirt.
Reserves are not guaranteed a game, they are expected to be available as and when they are required, they may be called on at very short notice by phone, often the day before the match.
It is very important that the reserves consider this when accepting the position. once a reserve has taken part in a match they automatically become a part of the squad and eligible for a selection for the rest of the season.
Players must inform the Team Manager immediately if their address or telephone number changes.
