It has been agreed that the following points system be used to determine which players in the previous year’s Inter-County Match squad remain in the squad without re-trialing.

a) One point awarded for selection, provided the player responds (either yes or no) by the specified deadline, normally the Monday before the match, and the player actually attends the match if the response given was affirmative. (Players who notify the Team Manager that they will not be available for a particular match, in advance of the selection being made, will receive the point for selection as though they had been selected and notified the Team Manager of their non-availability by the deadline).

b) One point awarded for attending the match (whether selected or not).

c) One point awarded for each frame played, regardless of result.

d) Five points awarded for each ‘A’ or ‘Youth’ team frame won.

e) Four points awarded for each ‘B’ or ‘Ladies’ team frame won.

f) Three points awarded for each Men’s ‘C’ team frame won.

g) In the event that a player is listed to play a frame at a County match which becomes a void frame because the other team is unable to put forward a player, then the Surrey player will receive the same points for the frame as he/she would have received if he/she had played it and won.

h) A player who accumulates 120 or more points in a year will not be required to re-trial for inclusion in the following year’s squad.

i) If the number of Ladies that accumulates 120 or more points is less than five, then the threshold for that year will be dropped (for Ladies only) to such a number as will ensure that five Ladies will be retained.

j) If the Youth team plays less than 10 matches in a season, then all the points earned by the Youth players will be uplifted pro rata. e.g. if only 8 matches are played, the points will be multiplied by 10 over 8.

k) A player who accumulates 100 or more points in a year will not have to attend the first stage, if there is one, of the trials for the following year’s squad, but will be automatically eligible to enter the second stage of the trials. (Not applicable to Ladies or Youth players. The Ladies’ and Youths’ trials are not in two stages).

In certain circumstances players who are not selected will be credited with points for the match.

1) Any player who is not selected for a match (a) and has not previously been selected for a match or (b) where there is not a ‘C’ team fixture, will have additional ranking points awarded to him/her at the end of the season equivalent to his average points attained in those matches where he/she did play, less any point already awarded for the match by virtue of attendance.

2) Any player selected (a) for the first match of the season or (b) for a subsequent match when he/she has qualified under rule 1 (above) or this rule (2) for average points for all previous matches in the current season or (c) for a match where there is not a ‘C’ team fixture, who, having responded in the affirmative within the specified time, attends the match but does not play, will have additional ranking points awarded to him/her at the end of the season equivalent to his/her average points attained in those matches where he/she did play, less the points already awarded for the match by virtue of attendance.

A player will qualify for a team shirt when he/she has played three matches. Players are expected to contribute £12.50 towards the cost of a team shirt. No team shirts will be ordered after the September match each season.
